Standard Resole

A standard resole typically involves replacing the front section of rubber—from the toe through to the midfoot—which is the part of the shoe that makes the most contact with the rock.

Because this area experiences the highest level of friction and wear during climbing, it’s usually the first to degrade. This type of resole can be carried out on virtually any climbing shoe, regardless of brand or model.

It’s by far the most common service climbers choose, as it offers a cost-effective way to extend the lifespan of a well-fitted broken-in pair of shoes without sacrificing performance.

Split Soles

Split-sole models from La Sportiva and Scarpa—including popular designs such as the Skwama - Solution or Instinct - the process is more specialised.

These shoes are engineered with separate rubber sections for the forefoot and heel to enhance flexibility and sensitivity. As a result, the resole focuses specifically on replacing the worn forefoot rubber while preserving the heel section, which is typically subject to less wear.

This approach maintains the shoe’s original performance characteristics, including its downturn, tension, and precision.

We carry out all resoles using original spare parts wherever possible, ensuring that the shoe retains the feel and performance intended by the manufacturer.

This includes matching the original rubber type, thickness, and construction methods. However, we also understand that climbers often develop personal preferences based on their climbing style, terrain, or conditions.

If you’d like to experiment with a different rubber compound—whether for increased durability, better edging, or improved stickiness—we’re happy to offer custom resole options tailored to your needs.
